Last Days of Summer

With Summer coming to an end and school beginning in a week I find myself having opposing feelings.  You Moms may recognize these feelings as sadness mixed with excitement.  Sadness because sleeping in is no longer an option.  (Can I get an “awwww” from the crowd?)  Then there is the excitement because, for a brief period during the day, you can actually (just maybe) do a little something just for you.  I write “maybe” because it is more than likely that just as you decide to do something for you, the phone with ring or you’ll receive a text from a needy child.  Inevitably, your child either forgot something that he/she desperately needs for school at that very moment or that same child needs you to do something for them at that very moment.  Either way, POOF!  You’re moment is officially gone.

Don’t get me wrong.  My children are my total world and I’d never change my life.  That said, I’m shouting out a huge THANK YOU to those in charge who made school mandatory for children.  I hope your last days of Summer are wonderful and full of fun family time!

So true! I love summer, but when it comes to an end I’m usually ready to kick everyone out the door.

    I completely understand, Gena!
